John, it took Kevin McCarthy 15 tries to get his speaker’s gavel. That’s the longest it’s taken to elect a House speaker in more than a century, and it shined a glaring spotlight on Republicans’ disarray.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. GOP infighting has created an utterly dysfunctional House of Representatives from Day One. They’ve already passed new House rules that put more power in the hands of far-right extremists and threaten to make life harder for American families — and there’s no telling what they’ll do next.
