Hello Friends,

This week, after the Republican majority struggled to elect a Speaker and then forced a partisan and regressive House Rules Package through the floor, we finally got to the business of legislating here in Washington. Despite these setbacks, I met with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to discuss our shared priorities and the work ahead to deliver for American families.

I was proud to sign the oath of office this week – I will always put New Hampshire first.

Although the Republican leadership’s embrace of the most extreme Members of the party makes it more challenging to find common ground, I stand committed to working with or standing up to anyone to build a brighter future for New Hampshire.

I look forward to naming our fourth co-chair of the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force in the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, I met with my fellow co-chairs of the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force — Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and Congressman David Trone — to highlight the Task Force’s wins in the 117th Congress and recommit to its bipartisan mission of addressing mental health and substance use disorder.

Our Task Force remains more committed than ever to tackling this epidemic.

Yesterday, I voted for legislation to stop China from purchasing critical resources from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve. But we must do more.

This week, I was proud to help reintroduce legislation to stop the sale of energy from this emergency reserve to all our foreign adversaries, not just China. I will continue working across the aisle to defend our national interests and ensure America’s leadership across the globe.

I look forward to working with Rep. Curtis in the 118th Congress to protect the winter sports we know and love!

Also this week, I joined Rep. John Curtis, my fellow co-chair of the bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus, to discuss ways we can reach across the aisle to protect and advocate for our ski areas and mountains across the country.

Here in New Hampshire, the skiing and snowboarding industry plays a major role in our economy and tourism industry – curbing climate change and ensuring our ski mountains are more resilient is a win-win for our state.

I will always fight to protect abortion access and personal privacy.

This week, I voted against dangerous and misleading legislation to restrict abortion access, spread harmful myths about abortion care, and overlook threats of violence to abortion providers and centers. 

I will continue fighting to protect abortion access and ensure less government interference in our personal, private lives.

I will always put New Hampshire families first.

The American people were clear in the last election: they want their elected representatives to fight for hardworking families and work to lower costs.

This week, I voted no on Republican legislation that would make it easier for the wealthy and well-connected to cheat on their taxes at the expense of American families.

I will continue standing up for families and small businesses in New Hampshire and across the country.

I'm pleased to see Senator Maggie Hassan's bipartisan legislation become law to require the hotline number to be posted in every airport, bus station, rail station, and all ports of entry.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline is a vital resource to end human trafficking, protect survivors, and hold perpetrators of these crimes accountable.

Health care provisions from the Inflation Reduction Act went into effect on January 1, 2023. Now, under this legislation, Medicare Part D beneficiaries will not pay more than $35/month for their insulin.

I’ll keep working to make health care more accessible and affordable for all.
