The US Attorney General wants access to your data. Any time. Anywhere.
John,
Attorney General William Barr is once again demanding that tech companies like Apple allow the feds to break into your phone and computer at any time.1 But weakening digital security makes us all less safe by giving hackers easy access to our personal information and opening us up to government abuse.2
Do you think Apple and other tech companies should allow the government to break into to your devices?
The fact of the matter is that strong encryption — like the encryption used by Apple to keep iPhones secure — protects public safety and personal privacy. Government agencies have weakened encryption in the past, allowing malicious hackers to break into private computers, sensitive business systems, and digital infrastructure that controls airports, hospitals, and even nuclear power plants!3
Numerous national security officials acknowledge that strong encryption is necessary to keep the public safe.4 Even reliably conservative news outlets like the Wall Street Journal are breaking with the Republican Attorney General on this issue.5
