John,
Republicans broke records last week.
FIRST: For the first time in 100 years, the House didn’t elect a speaker on the first ballot, all due to a fractured Republican party.
THEN: Republicans exceeded the record for the number of ballots needed in electing a speaker since before the Civil War.
NOW: After 15 VOTES (!!!) on the House floor and four days of unfiltered C-SPAN coverage, Republicans have elected Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker.
Though it was entertaining to see Republicans in chaos, this news doesn’t bode well for Democrats or democracy. So will you chip in $5 or whatever you can today to take back the majority?

McCarthy’s speakership comes under huge concessions, which could strengthen the power of far-right MAGA Republicans and disrupt the workings of the House. And with the 2024 election coming into focus, we can’t ignore the repercussions this can bring about.
That’s why we’re laying the groundwork early. Will you contribute $5, $10, $15, or whatever you can today to get Republicans out of Congress?
