Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Colleagues Demand an End to COVID-19 Emergency Declaration Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Colleagues Demand an End to COVID-19 Emergency Declaration This week, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra decided again to extend the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) for another 90 days, which was first implemented nearly three years ago. Although President Biden declared that the pandemic was over several months ago, this is now the 12th time the PHE has been extended, which is far too long. Nehls Discusses Reintroduction of Medal of Honor Act in 118th Congress It was a distinct honor to meet with two Medal of Honor recipients, Sergeant Major Pat Payne and Lieutenant Colonel Will Swenson. We had a great conversation about the reintroduction of my Medal of Honor Act, which increases the pension of Medal of Honor recipients from $18,000 to $100,000 annually. Increasing the pension will help ensure that these heroes and their families can always make ends meet. It’s the least we can do in recognition of their unwavering service to this great nation. Rep.
