[1]Justice Democrats
John —
For months, leaders at the Democratic Party’s official campaign arm, the
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), have said that
progressive primary challengers “are making the party look bad” and “are
harming our chances at holding the house in 2020.” Today, we’d recommend
they take a look in the mirror:

Frankly, this is embarrassing — the DCCC decided to focus on preventing
diverse, progressive candidates inspired by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and
Ayanna Pressley from running for office instead of getting their own house
in order.
And as of today, they still haven’t changed their ways. The DCCC blacklist
is still in effect, and many young organizers and political staffers who
choose to work for inspiring primary challengers are fearful for their
careers after the race is over.

to help run their campaign — but today, you can help fight that. Will you

vendors and staffers willing to work for progressive primary challengers,

As of today, five members of the DCCC’s senior leadership have resigned,
but the controversies at the DCCC are going to persist especially as they
continue their blacklist against a new generation of Democrats
transforming the party.
The DCCC blacklist disproportionately harms young progressives and
candidates of color, and protects out-of-touch incumbents who refuse to
listen to the communities they’re supposed to represent.
If they don’t end the blacklist now, Republicans will continue to use it
as a cudgel to show that the DCCC is protecting anti-choice “Democrats”
like Henry Cuellar and Dan Lipinsiki over encouraging new leaders like AOC
and Ayanna. And they’ll be right.

At the end of the day, the DCCC needs to get out of our primaries.
Democratic voters have a right to choose their champions, and the DCCC’s
role is to help elect those champions after they’re chosen.
In solidarity,
