Now that a new Speaker of the House has been elected, I look forward to returning to work fighting for the issues that impact our community the most. From safeguarding women’s reproductive health to protecting public safety, I’m proud to continue delivering results for our community. Read more below.

Protecting a Woman's Right to Choose

It’s no surprise that the first order of business for the new Republican majority was an attack on women and their fundamental rights. Sadly, overturning Roe v. Wade was only the beginning. This week, we saw yet another effort to strip women of their right to reproductive health services and ability to make basic family planning decisions.

It's well past time for action. We must enact federal protections for the right to choose and put an end to the criminalization of women’s reproductive care. Last year, I had the opportunity to lead debate on the Women’s Health Protection Act, legislation I proudly voted to pass in the House which would enshrine the protections of Roe v Wade into law. I remain committed to advancing this legislation and working to protect every woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions.

Supporting Local Law Enforcement

Monday was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, marking a critical opportunity to honor and thank our law enforcement officials for their bravery, service, and dedication. This week—and every day—we are grateful for all they do to protect families in our community.

In Congress, I’m always working to strengthen public safety and secure the tools and resources law enforcement needs to do their jobs. In the fiscal year 2023 appropriations package, my colleagues and I proudly passed funding to place over 1,800 additional police officers on the streets and ensure they have the equipment they need to succeed. This year, I look forward to working with my colleagues in a bipartisan way to further invest in law enforcement and create safer neighborhoods.
