The current Peruvian human rights emergency has seen over 45 deaths as military and police forces continue to respond to protests with extreme violence.

Our partners at the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest (AIDESEP) released a set of demands of international governments, including the U.S. government, due to this armed violence against Indigenous peaceful protesters. Please add your name in support of their demands!

YES, I’LL SIGN THE PETITION IN SOLIDARITY WITH PERUVIAN PROTESTERS FACING EXTREME VIOLENCE

In order to join this call in solidarity with AIDESEP, Amazon Watch will meet with Assistant Secretary of State Brian A. Nichols to demand that the U.S. State Department denounce violent repression in Peru.

The Biden Administration decided to publicly endorse the new Peruvian government and has remained silent regarding the excessive use of force against protesters in Peru. There has been no direct condemnation of the violence and stigmatizing language against protesters, which in turn enables the use of indiscriminate deadly force.

Join us in solidarity by signing the petition to hold the U.S. government accountable for its indifference in the face of human rights abuses!
