In the next few weeks, Meta (the company that owns Facebook) will decide whether Donald Trump will be reinstated and allowed back into his Facebook account.1 This news comes just two years after Trump used the platform to incite a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.2 

The largest social media platforms on the internet have banned Trump for his violent rhetoric. And in the past two years, Trump has continued to use the same incendiary and violent language on his own social media app, Truth Social—if anything, his rhetoric has only gotten worse, a clear sign of what he'd do if given a platform on Facebook again. Repeatedly, Trump has vocalized his baseless accusations of election fraud, amplified hate groups, and increased his calls for violence.3 Sign the petition to keep Trump off Facebook and prevent the spread of disinformation. 

The first time Meta suspended Trump, Meta said it would “assess whether the risk to public safety has receded” after a two-year suspension.4 Now that the two years have passed, it's very clear: Trump remains a risk to the public safety and the strength of our democracy. On top of spreading disinformation on Truth Social, Trump continues to spread dangerous rhetoric promoting violence, and to embrace QAnon at rallies and events.5

Social media companies have a fundamental responsibility to protect their users—and our democracy. Add your name to tell Meta to keep Trump off Facebook.
