Happy New Year, John xxxxxx!

We hope the first eBlast of the New Year finds you well. Team NPP is back at work as we continue our year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education and mobilization in the communities we center including; historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth.

We hope you enjoy reading the following biweekly eBlast, and catching up on what’s happening in Harrisburg, relevant news you can use and upcoming events - including where you’ll find NPP during Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend of Service.

Whats Happening In Harrisburg

Senate passes Constitutional Amendments: Two-Year Window, coupled with Voter ID and Election Audits

  • The Republican-controlled state senate used victims of childhood sexual assault as political pawns in their agenda. By coupling a commonsense, bipartisan-supported window to justice with a slate of controversial and deeply divisive election law changes, they are shamelessly sabotaging that justice for victims.
  • Pennsylvania has identification requirements for voting. You must verify your ID when you register, when you request a mail-in ballot, and when you vote for the first time at a new polling place.
  • Requiring Voter ID creates needless barriers for voters and creates chaos at the local level for election workers. It will need to be implemented without guidance, causing long lines, delays, and opens a new opportunity for bad actors to pose challenges to valid votes.
  • Any policy that creates yet another barrier for Pennsylvanians to cast their vote, is not in the best interest of our commonwealth.
