Well, folks, the GOP House majority is off to a pretty rough start.
After 14 painful rounds of voting, Kevin McCarthy sold his soul and made major concessions to the most extreme wing of the GOP to become Speaker – and the details of the deal are appalling:
- Any member can stop House business to demand a vote to remove the speaker
- House Freedom Caucus members get extra committee seats to exert even more control over which bills and amendments are brought to the floor
- Republicans will stage baseless, taxpayer-funded investigations to retaliate against Democrats for holding the former president accountable
- Republican elites must allow extreme right-wing candidates to challenge incumbents in GOP primaries
- Funding for critical programs can be rolled back or cut at any time
I refuse to allow a band of fringe Trump loyalists decide how our country is run, and I need your help to fight back against McCarthy’s corrupt bargain. Can I count on you to chip in $10 or more to ensure that the GOP’s days in power are numbered?
