Hi John.
I hope the new year is off to a great start for you and your family.
This is an exciting time! I recently took my oath of office, which formally kicks off my new term in the U.S. House of Representatives. I'm honored to serve you for the next two years in the 118th Congress.
I’m looking forward to the opportunities, and challenges, that lay ahead. But whatever is in store for us, my bottom line is this: I am always here for you, no matter what.
Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.
My job is to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party. Click here to see a quick video about the road ahead.
The Kansas Third District looks a little different this time around. Congressional boundaries are redrawn every ten years following the U.S. Census.
Our district now includes all of Johnson, Miami, Anderson, and Franklin Counties. It also now only includes a southern portion of Wyandotte County, largely only the areas that are south of I-70. You can click here to see a map and verify that you still reside within the Kansas Third District.
Although the district’s boundaries changed a little, my approach remains the same. I’ll work with anyone – Republican or Democrat – if it’s good for Kansas. And I’ll stand up against those who seek to take us backwards.
My focus is on concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future – with more jobs and lower prices.
We have a lot more work to do over the next two years. But I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, including:
• Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: We’re already seeing the positive impact of this law locally. It’s replacing lead pipes in Olathe and modernizing U.S. 69. And soon, it’ll help more Kansans access high-speed internet. Please click here to verify your internet information to help ensure Kansas gets the support it needs.
• Bipartisan Manufacturing Law: We need to make more products and jobs here in Kansas – not China. The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act is doing that by strengthening our supply chains so we can drive down prices. That includes advancing innovative research and development and attracting more than $200 billion worth of private investment.
• Standing up to Big Pharma: A new law I voted for last year is capping the cost of insulin for seniors on Medicare. Now, seniors will only need to pay $35 a month.
• Helping Kansans: We’ve helped more than 4,000 hardworking Kansans and helped return more than $12 million owed local taxpayers. That’s everything from backlogged veterans’ benefits, to stalled passports, to Medicare issues, and more. We’d be honored to help you, too. In fact, we’re having new Pop Up Office Hours around the Kansas Third District this month –
• Making a Difference for Kansas: We secured key federal support for community projects to rebuild our infrastructure, improve safety, and create jobs. That includes resources to protect Merriam from flooding, groundbreaking imaging machines for the University of Kansas Cancer Center, and support for local police departments across the district.
My job is to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party. You can click here to see a comprehensive report on how we’ve delivered results.
It’s clear now that a strong majority of Kansans and people across the country reject extremism – regardless of party. As we enter this new term, I hope leaders in both parties listen closely to that message. It’s time to put aside division and political games and focus on results.
With that in mind, I’m looking forward to producing a bipartisan Farm Bill that supports the Kansas agricultural community. I also look forward to upholding our duties of oversight and implementation on the transformational legislation we passed last session, and to continuing our work to lower costs for Kansans.
As this important work continues, I hope you’ll please take our survey to share your priorities with me. Listening to you always helps me do better.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
