John, Moms Demand Action just turned 10 years old—and right
now, I'm on the bus to Virginia Advocacy Day with my friend and Everytown
for Gun Safety's head of movement building Angela Ferrell-Zabala and our
amazing volunteers. We're all ready to roll up our red sleeves in
Richmond!

The last decade has been incredible. What started out as an impassioned
plea for change in my kitchen has grown into a movement 10 million strong,
and together, we've changed the political and cultural landscape around
gun safety. We've helped save lives and built a diverse movement of people
capable of ending gun violence.
As Moms Demand Action turns 10, we're working harder than ever to save
lives and end this crisis. [ [link removed] ]Help me celebrate this historic milestone by
adding your name: Commit to fight for gun safety in District of Columbia.

While I'm here with Angela, I also want to share some news with you.
Earlier this week, I announced my personal decision to step back from my
work as a full-time Moms Demand Action volunteer leader at the end of
2023. I'll spend this year traveling across the country with Angela and
elevating the amazing work of our volunteers. And then beginning in 2024,
I'll start my new role as a local and vocal California Moms Demand Action
volunteer. Make no mistake: I'm stepping back, but not stepping away from
this issue.
I was only able to make this decision because I know this movement is
stronger than ever. I've always said this fight is a marathon, not a
sprint—and it is also a relay race. I'll be passing the baton to the new
and emerging leaders in our movement who are eager to take on a larger
piece of this work and will continue to demand action and effect change.
Supported by the entire Everytown team and all of you who make up our 10
million supporters nationwide, I know there's nothing you won’t be able to
accomplish together.
So while our movement may look different in the years to come, I know it
will be stronger than ever before. As always, we will #KeepGoing.
Thank you for being a part of this movement. Working alongside our amazing
Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers has been one of
the greatest honors of my life. Together, we'll use the next
#10YearsOfMoms to save more lives and make our communities safer.
