With the gavel finally in his hand, Kevin McCarthy’s first act as Speaker of the House was to cut down the Office of Congressional Ethics, like palm trees blocking his view of Mar-a-Lago, the MAGA safe house.

That’s pretty convenient when your party’s leadership is filled with election deniers, January 6th apologists, and at least one made-up person (we see you, George Santos…if that’s your name). If this is how the 118th Congress starts, we doubt it will get much better.
