Second Trove of Classified Documents Found in Biden’s Garage
Daily Caller: The White House confirmed Thursday that a second tranche of classified documents had been found in President Joe Biden’s garage. Biden’s lawyers recovered the classified documents during a Wednesday search of his Delaware residences, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, said in a statement ( Daily Caller). Post Millennial: Peter Doocy: “Classified materials, next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Biden: “My Corvette is in a locked garage, okay?” ( Twitter). Byron York : Here is the entire exchange between @pdoocy and President Biden about classified documents held in Biden’s garage in Delaware ( Twitter).

Garland Appoints Special Counsel to Investigate Biden Documents
Wall Street Journal: Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday named Robert Hur, a former U.S. attorney during the Trump administration, as special counsel to examine why classified documents were found at President Biden’s home and office, intensifying scrutiny of Mr. Biden’s actions after he left the vice presidency in 2017 ( Wall Street Journal). Benny Johnson: BREAKING: AG Merrick Garland has appointed Robert Hur to serve as Special Counsel to investigate the mishandling of Classified Documents by Joe Biden ( Twitter). Red State: During the presser, Garland also revealed that the DOJ has known about the second trove of documents since December 20th, 2022. That means that the White House knew there were more (given they supposedly reported them) but lied to the press, playing the initial revelation of classified documents being “found” at the Penn Biden Center as a flukey accident ( Red State).

House Republicans, Democrats Join Forces to Block Oil Sales to China
Fox News: Dozens of House Democrats joined Republicans on Thursday to pass legislation that would prevent the Biden administration from selling any more oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to China or Chinese-owned companies. The House easily passed the bill in an 331-97 vote. Every Republican voted for it, and 113 Democrats — more than half of the House Democratic Caucus — joined the GOP ( Fox News). Daily Caller: The Biden administration has sold nearly six million barrels of oil to the Chinese state oil company Sinopec since 2021. Overall, the administration sold more than 260 million barrels of oil in 2021 and 2022 in a bid to stabilize gas prices. Americans use about 20 million barrels of oil a day, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Republicans have questioned whether or not Hunter Biden benefited financially from the sale, given his longtime connections to Sinopec ( Daily Caller).

Speaker McCarthy Willing to Release 14,000 Hours of J6 Footage
Washington Times: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Thursday he is willing to make public unreleased security footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot when pro-Trump protesters breached the complex to protest the presidential election. “I want to be very thoughtful about it, but yes,” Mr. McCarthy said at his weekly presser. “I think the public should see what happened on that day. I watched what [then-House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. For the first time in the history as a speaker, not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee,” he told reporters. “We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written on a political basis.” Rep. Paul Gosar, Arizona Republican, told The Washington Times that the release of the security footage is necessary for the Jan. 6 detainees’ legal defense ( Washington Times). Benny Johnson: Speaker McCarthy sends DC in utter PANIC after announcing he wants to release ALL FOOTAGE from January 6th ( Twitter).

Shot to the Heart: Moderna Launches Development of mRNA Injection for Heart Attacks
Daily Mail: Moderna is developing an mRNA shot that is injected directly into the hearts of heart attack and heart failure patients. The ‘vaccine’ uses the same technology as the company’s flagship Covid jab and is designed for people weeks or months after a heart attack to help them recover. It works by instructing human heart cells to generate a hormone that is known to improve blood flow, helping restore damaged heart muscles. Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel told Sky News Australia in October: ‘We have now in the clinic a super exciting program where we inject mRNA into people’s hearts after a heart attack to grow back new blood vessels to help revascularize the heart. ‘It’s a bit like science fiction medicine but that’s what is really exciting to me’ ( Daily Mail).

Four House Democrats Cross Aisle to Support GOP-Sponsored “Born Alive” Bill
The Hill: Four House Democrats voted with Republicans on Wednesday to support GOP-sponsored abortion measures, crossing the aisle to help pass the first anti-abortion pieces of legislation in the House Republican majority. The first bill, titled the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, passed in a 220-210-1 vote. The legislation would require that all infants born after attempted abortions receive medical care ( The Hill). Fox News: Nonetheless, Democrats overwhelmingly rejected the bill. Some, like Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., argued that the bill would set up new requirements that would “directly interfere with the doctors’ medical judgment and dictate a medical standard of care that may not be appropriate in all circumstances.” He and other Democrats said the requirement to eventually take infants who survive abortion to a hospital may not be in the best interest of the family. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., accused Republicans of bringing up the bill “as part of your march to criminalize abortion care, to impose a nationwide ban, to set into motion government-mandated pregnancies.” House passage of the bill sends it to the Democrat-controlled Senate, which is unlikely to act on it ( Fox News).

Illegal Immigrants Cause “Chaos” at NYC Hotel
Thousands of immigrants are being housed at New York City hotels at taxpayer expense. Fox News: An employee at Row, one of New York City’s best-known hotels, became a whistleblower Wednesday after he released video and photos of illegal immigrants trashing the hotel and leaving fresh food out to rot. “It’s a disgrace,” Row NYC employee Felipe Rodriguez said on “The Ingraham Angle.” “The chaos that we see at the Row today is [caused] by migrants being drunk, drinking all day, smoking marijuana [and] consuming drugs,” Rodriguez said. He also said that the Row is struggling with “domestic violence” among migrants, young people “having sex in the stairs,” and a fight between a migrant and a hotel security officer ( Fox News). New York Post: An NYPD source who was working in Times Square on New Year’s Eve confirmed the chaos at the hotel, saying the lobby was littered with broken bottles and some revelers were dancing while others were sprawled out on the furniture and the floor. “It was a total s–t show,” the cops said ( New York Post).

Residents in Detroit-Area Community Can Now Sacrifice Animals at Home for Religious Reasons
Detroit Free Press: After several months of contentious debate and pressure from Muslim residents, Hamtramck City Council voted Tuesday night to allow the religious sacrifice of animals on residential property. Muslims often slaughter animals during the holiday of Eid al-Adha and Hamtramck has one of the highest percentage of Muslim residents among cities in the U.S ( Detroit Free Press). AP News: The Hamtramck council in December had voted to continue a ban on animal slaughter but reversed course, at least for religious reasons, after legal advice and objections from people who follow the Islamic faith. Dawud Walid, director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said “it’s not something new or novel.” “This is when Muslims recognize Abraham sacrificing a sheep instead of having to sacrifice his son,” Walid said, referring to the passage in the Quran and Old Testament. Hamtramck residents will be required to notify the city, pay a fee and make their property available for inspection ( AP News).

Gas Stove Debate Heats Up
Washington Post: The gas stove furor is emblematic of Republicans’ broader efforts to thrust President Biden’s environmental agenda into the nation’s ongoing culture wars ( Washington Post). Axios: Despite official insistence that fears of a ban are unfounded, conservatives are suddenly championing gas stoves in a new culture war ( Axios). Daily Wire: Legacy media wants you to believe that the Right is in hysterics over some rumor that the Biden administration wants to ban gas stoves. In fact, some are even alleging that conservatives started another fight in the culture war needlessly. Yet the idea that the federal government wants to ban gas stoves didn’t come out of left field, and it didn’t start this week. In December, Richard Trumka Jr., the Senate-confirmed commissioner of the United States Consumer Protection and Safety Commission (CPSC), expressed his desire to eliminate the products from the market while telling like-minded individuals that the federal government could regulate the products so quickly with “enough public pressure” ( Daily Wire). Jazz Shaw: ICYMI, the new MSM narrative about the gas stove ban stupidity is that it’s a GOP plot for a “culture war.” It’s as if they all got a memo from the White House or something. Check out these headlines that all came out at once ( Twitter).

US on Verge of Crashing Into Debt Ceiling
Fox Business: The federal government is hurtling toward its $31.4 trillion debt limit which will likely be reached within weeks, setting the stage for a summer showdown in Congress over the debt and spending ( Fox Business). World: What happens if the government runs into its debt ceiling? The Treasury Department can immediately resort to so-called “extraordinary measures” to keep the government running, but those measures would likely burn themselves out by summer. If they do, the government could risk defaulting on its national debt, which would deal a significant blow to its financial credibility. Republicans and Democrats could prevent that by negotiating a compromise on how to regulate future spending ( World).
