U.N. to Post Inspectors to All of Ukraine’s Nuclear Plants

The head of the United Nations atomic agency plans to visit Ukraine next week to deploy international inspectors at all of the war-torn country’s nuclear plants, significantly expanding the regulator’s presence after months of attacks on power stations and amid the threat of a renewed Russian offensive, as the WSJ announced.

2022 was Fifth or Sixth Warmest on Record as Earth Heats Up

2022 was the fifth or sixth warmest year on record, U.S. government scientists said Thursday. But, they warned to expect record-shattering hot years soon, likely in the next couple years because of “relentless” climate change from the burning of coal, oil and gas, as the AP reports.

South Korea Declares Nuclear Weapons a Policy Option

President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea said for the first time on Wednesday that if North Korea’s nuclear threat grows, South Korea would consider building nuclear weapons of its own or ask the United States to redeploy them on the Korean Peninsula, as the NYT reports.
