George Santos lied, stole, and cheated his way into a seat in Congress.

Now, he has access to top-secret national security information as a representative. But I’m doing everything in my power to stop him.

Up until now, Speaker Kevin McCarthy has refused to condemn George Santos’ lies. He is so desperate to maintain the narrow Republican majority that he’s putting Americans’ lives at risk by giving top-secret information to a man who, frankly, we don’t know anything real about him. I served 27 months in combat and had a top-secret security clearance. George Santos would not pass a simple background check. We must find out who he is, where his allegiances lie, and where his hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions come from — and until we find out, we must bar him from receiving national security clearance.

George Santos’ lies are not just embarrassing, harmless exaggerations of his resume. They represent a blatant disregard for trust and democracy, undermining the will of voters.

The lack of action from Kevin McCarthy is just as damning. I mean, when is it enough? When do these endless lies grow so dangerous that House Republicans will decide to say, “This is more important than a Republican majority in the House?”

For goodness’ sake, even Santos’ own local Republican Party is calling for his resignation. He’s barely made it a full week into his term.

Unfortunately, we keep seeing leaders put power over the essence of our democracy – the democracy I risked my life to defend as an Army officer. That’s why I’m asking you to step up and sign on to our efforts to block George Santos from receiving security clearance.
