Dear John,
Happy New Year! I’m writing to share some good news related to Playworks and how we support our people. Playworkers like to stay with our organization, often for many years. We've been able to retain such great employees because we authentically care about and appreciate them, in addition to offering a playful culture and a meaningful mission. In recognition of this incredible service, we are implementing a sabbatical policy. Any employee who has been with us for more than a decade is eligible for six weeks paid time off to rest and recharge, and those of us with more than 15 years have eight weeks!
Currently ten of our teammates are eligible for a sabbatical, including me. As CEO of Playworks, I rely on the incredible work of every team member to bring safe and healthy play to communities across the country every day. Playworks is also fortunate to have a strong and experienced leadership team in place, making it possible for me to step away temporarily, without any concerns.
I will be on sabbatical beginning January 18 and have full trust in our team to keep the mission moving forward until and beyond my return in March. You’ll likely hear from COO Mike Chae in my absence, so be sure to look out for emails from him. If you need something in the meantime, please reach out to [email protected] and the team will route your inquiry to the right person.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to engaging with you about the great work we do when I return.
Play on,
Elizabeth Cushing
