Wrestling with Genomic Research and Disinformation

Are Genomic Findings Fueling Violence and White Supremacy? And What Can We Do About It?

Has genomic research on human behavior fueled the rise of white supremacy in America? How has genetic evidence played a role in the 2022 Buffalo mass shooting and other extremist violence? A virtual event on January 25, hosted by the National Human Genome Research Institute and featuring Hastings Center research scholar Erik Parens, will discuss strategies for scientists to combat misinformation, disinformation, and misuse of scientific findings. Learn more and register.

A virtual event tomorrow, January 13, with Parens will explore how we should think about the risks of such research, including the risks that its results could be weaponized. Learn more and register.
