It's Civics 101: the person with the most votes wins.

Unless we're talking about elections for the most important job in the world, in which case the person with the most votes only wins if they have the most votes in enough states that add up to a number that's more than the sum total of...

If every vote counted, Republican presidential candidates would come to blue states and Democratic candidates would show up in red states. Every candidate for president would compete for votes everywhere - in the entire country. That's the way it should be.
