Dear Friend,
Happy 2023! We know we are already two weeks into the new year but we
wanted to roll back the clock real quick because we have some GIANT
victories to discuss with you!
Because of YOU and the advocacy of millions of moms, dads, concerned
people, and caregivers we were able to secure some major victories in the
final days of 2022, including passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness
Act, PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act, and critical childcare, child
nutrition, and maternal mental health funding. Woohoo!!! These were hard
fought victories that will make a huge difference in the lives of many
moms, women, children, and families.
Thank you!
As we head into 2023 and a new Congress though, we need your voice to
continue to fight for the policies our families and economy need!

we need them to prioritize in 2023.
While the end-of-the-year bill in December had many giant, huge victories,
there were also some major priorities left on the cutting room floor. You
and I both know that the only way our economy can start to fully recover
and our families and country can thrive is if our elected leaders
prioritize policies that center the needs of struggling families, women,
and children. Our success will lead to the success of the entire nation.
The time to double down on our momentum from our end-of-year victories is
today. We are now presented with a new Congress and a new opportunity to
tell them what our families and economy need right now! We are calling on
the new Congress to prioritize the following issues:
* Pass affordable, accessible, quality childcare and Pre-K opportunities
for all, regardless of race, ZIP code, ability, identity, or any other
factor;
* Extend improvements to the Child Tax Credit, including full
refundability, and pass tax policies guaranteeing that the wealthy and
mega-corporations pay their fair share;
* Strengthen workplace protections by passing paid family/medical leave
and earned sick time and advance pay equity by raising the minimum
wage and passing pay equity and transparency legislation;
* Secure quality, affordable health care for everyone including
expanding Medicaid coverage, closing the coverage gap, reducing
prescription drug prices and increasing access to home- and
community-based services and care;
* Advance maternal health, including maternal and adolescent mental
health, reproductive health, and access to health care for trans and
queer people by passing the Black Maternal Health MOMNIBUS, the
Women’s Health Protection Act;
* Ensure fair treatment of all immigrant families;
* Increase gun safety by moving forward legislation on universal
background checks and a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity
magazines;
* Advance youth and family justice through promoting non-carceral public
safety strategies that move away from failed criminal legal
interventions and invest in public health approaches;
* Expand voting rights along with democracy protection by passing the
Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act;
* Protect LGBTQ people and families from discrimination by passing the
Equality Act
There is a lot our new Congress needs to accomplish in the coming year.
Make sure they prioritize the needs of our families, communities, and
economy first and foremost.
