Dear John,
On behalf of the MPAC Hollywood Bureau, I wish you and yours a Happy New Year. May all of your hopes and dreams in 2023 and beyond come true.
In about a week, the 2023 Sundance Film Festival is going to be in full swing. Sunday, January 22, MPAC’s Muslim House is hosting a Party at The Park from 7 p.m. MT to 10 p.m. MT. We have wonderful discussions in store so if you are planning on attending the festival, please join us!
RSVP here: mpacpartyatthepark.eventbrite.com.
Here’s who will be joining us:
Panel #1 - Broken: The Failed Promise of Muslim Inclusion Fireside Chat
Filmmaker and Sundance Producing Lab Fellow Razi Jafri will be in conversation with Dr. Evelyn Alsultany about her new book, Broken: The Failed Promise of Muslim Inclusion, and the Obeidi-Alsultany Test, which aims to help Hollywood improve representations of Muslims.
Panel #2 - Muslim Cinematic Storytelling
In community with The Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF), we’re excited to have the director of Americanish, Iman Zawahry, who is also a Sundance Momentum Fellow and the ISF Film Programs Director, lead a conversation with filmmakers Aizzah Fatima, Imran J. Khan, Nausheen Dadabhoy, and Qasim Basir, whose film To Live and Die and Live will make its world premiere at the festival.
We hope to see you in-person on the Mountain!
