As part of their so-called investigations, vengeful Republicans are threatening to use subpoenas to obtain donation and funding information from climate groups.

John,

Even with the slimmest of majorities in the House, Congressional Republicans are already trying to intimidate progressive groups, including climate activists.

After a week of bickering and internal feuding on the House floor before allowing Kevin McCarthy to take the Speaker’s gavel, Republicans now want to launch multiple investigations into the groundless claims that China and Russia are improperly influencing U.S. climate activism.

As part of their so-called investigations, vengeful Republicans are threatening to use subpoenas to obtain donation and funding information from climate groups. It’s a fishing expedition by right-wing members of Congress to determine the strength and resilience of climate change organizations.

The GOP has been ramping up its threats against climate groups over the past year, sending oversight letters implying activists are tools of foreign influence campaigns. Many oversight communications promote a widely-debunked claim that Russian money may have filtered through an American foundation.

But to put it simply, John:

There is no evidence so far of either Russia or China funding American climate activists.

To claim anything else is just disinformation.

That’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans, John. While congressional Republicans are using intimidation tactics to go after climate activists, Democrats are passing legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act to promote American-based solutions to climate change while adding well-paid green jobs to our economy.

John, SEEC members of Congress refuse to allow Republicans to intimidate them. Will you let our members know you have their back as they take on GOP extremists?
