Dear MoveOn member,
New York's Nassau County Republican leaders have finally called for George
Santos to resign for creating a fake résumé to win his election.^1 And
just yesterday, New York Democratic Representatives Ritchie Torres and
Daniel Goldman filed an official ethics complaint against him.^2 While
this is a good start, it's going to take all of us taking action to ensure
he is held accountable.
It isn't surprising that it took weeks for local GOP officials to speak
out against Santos—they conveniently waited until Santos's vote gave Kevin
McCarthy enough support to become speaker of the House on the 15th round.
But now, with the added pressure from Democrats via the House ethics
complaint and with constituents continuing to call for his resignation,
there's renewed energy for accountability.
[ [link removed] ]The pressure is working! But Santos has shown no willingness to step
down—and national Republicans continue to shield him. Will you sign the

Our elected officials should be honest about their backgrounds and not
fabricate to receive donations and voters' support. The Republican Party
has already failed so many by willingly seating insurrectionists, working

Dear MoveOn member,
Representative George Santos has just been sworn in, but we've already
seen enough: It's time for him to go.
The version of Santos elected by voters is a complete fiction. Santos
built his campaign on a series of outrageous and offensive lies, deceiving
the voters of New York's 3rd District about his qualifications, work
background, and who he really is. His continued presence in the House is a
disservice and disrespect to the people of Long Island and Queens—and the
entire nation. Santos cannot possibly represent the people of his district
with the truth of his deception out there.
[ [link removed] ]It's time for Santos to end the charade and step aside. His
constituents deserve a representative they can trust.
Santos's litany of lies is too long to recount: false claims that he is
the descendant of Holocaust survivors, fabrications about his education
and past employment, glaring gaps in his financial disclosures, and
more.^1 His excessive campaign spending and the unknown sources of his
wealth have also raised flags.
George Santos has grossly lied his way into office. He must respect the
people of his district and resign now or be removed.

His constituents and New York lawmakers—even some fellow Republicans—have
called for him to resign.^2 Prosecutors are investigating whether his lies
crossed the line into criminal activity—his official filings to run for
office seem to include fraudulent claims.^3
Yet Santos continues to dig himself deeper into a hole, while lashing out
and avoiding accountability. Instead of coming clean or focusing on his
constituents, he'll now be tied up in investigations by local, state,
federal, and international authorities because of the long trail of
deception and fraud that's just beginning to be uncovered, and his ability
to meaningfully represent his constituents in Washington will be
zero—imagine him speaking in any committee hearing!

for his lies about his qualifications.
Our elected officials must at the very least be held to the same, if not a
higher, standard as the rest of us. Otherwise we reinforce a system where
the rules we all follow don't apply to people with political power. That's
why Santos must resign—and if he doesn't, Congress should expel him from
office under its constitutionally granted powers.
