Run for Something

Hi there --

This week, Ross and I talked to CNN about  the Democratic party leadership's laser focus on the presidential primary and the chances we could win the White House, but remain out of real political power for the next decade. We're dead serious when we say that Republicans have a better understanding of how our political system works; by investing hundreds of millions of dollars in scooping up seats from from school boards to state houses, they've put themselves in a position to make decisions for thousands of communities across the country, regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.

We can make up for lost time, but we have to start now -- not in November. Chip in at least $5, then share this article with a few of your friends.

Our research has identified that fielding a candidate in a state legislative race in a district that previously went uncontested -- as more than 35% of state legislative races often do -- can increase Democratic turnout by up to one percentage point in that district. Filling state races with young, diverse progressives doesn't have to be at the expense of the presidential race; we can (and should) walk and chew gum at the same time here.

We need you and we need you urgently. Money in November -- when you're feeling scared -- is good, sure, but money now when we can use it to recruit and support candidates for November is even better. Chip in right now:
