DSA: Pittsburgh Democratic Socialists of America

Hey John, at tomorrow’s 7PM meeting at Community Forge we’ll be voting on the Elections & Pressure Campaigns Committee’s proposal to begin coordinated campaigning in support of Bernie Sanders for President.

Will you be there at the meeting tomorrow?

The proposal involves opting out of the national DSA Independent Expenditure campaign in order to work directly with the Bernie campaign, which involves some wonky compliance consequences for the work we can do. Whether or not we run an independent or coordinated campaign makes a big difference the work we could do, so it’s important we make that decision together.

Because we don’t expect everyone to be experts on the ins and outs of campaign finance in order to show up and want to get started on Bernie work, the meeting’s education segment will be spent on a presentation explaining the proposal, talking about the local context for our work, and laying out the plan for what the work would look like and how you could help.
