Dear John, This January marks what should be the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. But instead of celebrating the ongoing protections afforded by Roe, we’re taking stock of the wreckage caused by the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization – and looking to create a future with equitable and just abortion access across communities. To commemorate Roe v. Wade and learn how you can engage with the challenges and opportunities of this moment, the National Institute for Reproductive Health invites you to join us for a virtual event on Thursday, January 19 at 7pm ET. You’ll hear from our staff about some of the most exciting policy efforts happening across the country, receive training on how to talk about abortion most effectively, and learn how you can make a change in your city, your state, and beyond. This is a moment when more and more states are banning abortion, when people going through miscarriages are being turned away from emergency medical care, and when an unprecedented number of people are facing punishment and surveillance for providing or facilitating abortion care. And this is also a moment where advocates are digging deep to innovate policy solutions, cities and states are allocating millions of dollars to abortion access, and voters everywhere are acting decisively to protect abortion access. Register to join us on January 19 at 7pm ET and let’s meet this moment – together. We’ll see you there! In solidarity, ANDREA MILLER President
P.S. If you are in the New York City/New Jersey areas, we have an in-person commemoration event on Wednesday, January 25 – stay tuned for more information!
