[1]Cori Bush

John,

There are so many things Congress could have been working on — but
instead, we spent the first week watching the Republican Party’s inability
to govern and a 14-time failing McCarthy leading the way.

To quote Cori:

“The Party of Insurrection has selected a Speaker by cutting a deal with
its most hateful faction.

But know this — we will fight with everything we’ve got to mitigate the
policy violence they intend to inflict.

And in 2024, we will deliver the House back to the people.”

Cori’s sworn in and now it’s time to get to work. What’s on your agenda?

answer.

[ [link removed] ]Housing for All

Cori knows what it’s like to be unhoused, living out of her car with her
two small children while working a full-time job — and she brings that
experience with her to Congress every single day. She is leading the fight
to make sure that every single person is able to have shelter and safety
by declaring that housing is a human right — and since getting elected,
she’s refused to let anyone forget it.

[ [link removed] ]Environmental Justice

The climate crisis threatens us all, and will disproportionately impact
our nation’s most vulnerable populations. Cori introduced the Green New
Deal for Cities in 2021 to fund an expansive array of community-based
climate and environmental justice jobs and projects — including wind power
procurement, clean water infrastructure, and air quality monitoring — by
giving funding directly to city, state, local, indigenous, and territorial
governments.

[ [link removed] ]Economic Justice

Regular, everyday people are being left behind by a system which
prioritizes the whims of the rich over the basic, human needs of our
community. Whether it’s wage stagnation, inflation, or the exploitation of
people at the pump — Cori’s taking action. She’s been fighting for at
least a $15 minimum wage since well before she stepped foot in the
People’s House. Last Congress, she voted to increase the minimum wage and
for the PRO Act to protect workers' rights to unionize.

[ [link removed] ]Medicare for All

As a registered nurse and someone who knows personally the consequence of
being forced into immoral debt simply for seeking out and receiving needed
medical care, Cori believes that health care is a human right. No one
should be denied health care based on age, gender, ability to pay, or
health status/pre-existing condition. She is leading towards joining every
other industrialized nation and passing Medicare for All.

[ [link removed] ]Protecting the Right to Vote

Our democracy is under attack by Republican state legislatures across the
country, members of Congress, and others holding federal office. It’s on
us to take action to make sure that every single person has the right to
vote and to be able to participate in our democracy.

[ [link removed] ]Reproductive Freedom

Abortion care is health care and health care is a human right. Yet, across
the nation, our reproductive freedom is under attack. In this moment of
crisis, we must take action at the state and national levels to codify
reproductive rights into law.

[ [link removed] ]Transforming Public Safety

Cori is working to keep children and our entire community safe in the face
of a gun violence epidemic that’s built on top of the pandemic of
preventable poverty. With the People's Response Act, we’re seeking to fund
systems of preventative care, mental health resources, community and gun
violence intervention programs, and supporting survivors of the current
system through legislation like Cori’s Helping Families Heal Act.

Let us be clear, all of these issues — and so much more — need to be
addressed by the 118th Congress this year, and each is a key priority for
Cori. We’re eager to hear which of these pressing issues is front of mind
for you, John.

In solidarity,

Team Cori
