January 11, 2023
Dear John,
It’s the start of a new Congress!
Last Saturday around 1:00 a.m., I was finally sworn in for my third term. Despite the early hour, I felt overwhelming pride, excitement, and joy in that moment, and it is the honor of my life to serve Illinois’ 14th District.
I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made over the last two years. In 2022, I ended the year by securing over $20 million in federal funding for the 14th District! We know that our community is strongest when we have the resources we need to thrive, and these federal dollars will support small businesses, expand access to mental health care, and keep our community safe.
One of the most rewarding moments of last year for me was lowering health care costs for families in the 14th District. The Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law in August, includes health care savings based on my Health Care Affordability Act. It makes tax credits for Health Insurance Marketplace plans more generous and available to more Americans, extending these cost savings through 2025.
I will never stop my work to make health care more affordable and accessible for families across the country.
We accomplished so much together in 2022, and I can’t wait to continue my work delivering for our community in northern Illinois in the 118th Congress.
See you soon,
