As I prepare for the 118th Congress, I want to thank you for your continued trust in me to represent you in Congress.

In the 118th Congress, I will prioritize education by expanding financial aid for every child and guaranteeing them access to college. I will prioritize healthcare by fighting for affordable treatment and medication for South Texans, especially those with pre-existing conditions. I will prioritize job creation by cutting taxes and red tape that stifle innovation. And I will prioritize security by listening to our local law enforcement and the men and women in green and blue to restore order at our southern border.

I visited the United States/Mexico border in El Paso with President Joe Biden, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Representatives Veronica Escobar and Vicente Gonzalez. We met with El Paso officials and local law enforcement to discuss the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border. The first step in solving any problem begins by listening. Yesterday, we heard directly from our border communities, our local law enforcement, and the men and women in green and blue to gauge how we can solve this matter together. I applaud President Biden’s visit to our southern border as we are evermore closer to addressing the ongoing immigration crisis. I look forward to continuing to work with the President and his Administration to effectively and efficiently develop a plan to secure our southern border.

I met with my good friend and new Fort Worth TxDOT District Engineer, David Salazar. Since 2017, David served as the Laredo District Engineer for TxDOT. Over the years him and I worked well together and accomplished many great things for South Texas. I want to wish David the best of luck and continued success in his new position!

My Starr County Outreach Coordinator, Robert Bazan, visited La Rosita Public library to donate books from the Library of Congress. This donation is a surplus of items from the Library of Congress. The books donated cover an array of topics, including fiction, non-fiction, adult’s and children’s novels, and general reading material. Thank you, La Rosita Library, for helping support educational opportunities in our community.

My Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Marco Salazar, attended a Border Olympics soccer game between United High School and Edcouch-Elsa High School. Thank you Border Olympics for supporting athletes in Webb County. 

My Laredo office attended the swearing in ceremony for Webb County Treasurer, Raul Reyes. Congratulations, and thank you for serving Webb County.
