Hi John,

At our first team meeting in the new year, our executive director discussed resolutions. Far too often, especially this time of year, resolutions lead to a lot of negative talk around body image and productivity. But Erin does have one big, bold resolution this year she wants to share:

“Legalize Abortion.”

March for ‘Life’? Yeah right!

This month is the annual so-called March for ‘Life’ event, a demonstration calling for the end to abortion.

This year, we’re coming back in-person to counter-protest! We’ll be in front of the Supreme Court, taking them to task and saying: Abortion Is Unstoppable.

Follow along for updates in coming days about where and when to meet via our Facebook and Twitter.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for January:

1.     Unplug when you can! We deserve to enjoy our lives when we can. Setting my devices down and leaving the news feeds, social media content, and internet alone for a while reminds me of all of the things that are actually in front of me. As we anticipate another year of fighting for reproductive justice and abortion rights, making sure I am connecting with my family and self will be crucial to sustaining the awesome work we are a part of. Tenaja, campaign coordinator

2.     Get sunlight and fresh air immediately in the morning! Exposing yourself to sunlight and fresh air in the morning can enhance your mood and help you sleep better at night. If you live in a colder and dreary environment (like me), making an effort to even get outside right away in the morning (even if it's cloudy) can help clear your mind and improve your mood. And, even when it's cloudy, always wear sunscreen. Nataley, executive assistant

3.     Be consistent! I have many habits I've formed over the years to keep my mental and physical health in shape, but the most important factor is being consistent with all of them. I didn't really get the benefits of journaling, meditating, running, etc. until I was doing them on a regular basis. What helped me to form habits is telling others I'm doing them until it became a normal part of my daily routine. -Jessica, digital outreach and opposition research director

See you next month!

In Solidarity,

Erin, Shireen, Elizabeth, Evonnia, Jacqueline, Jessica, Kara, Nataley, Tenaja, Annie, Kate, and the Reproaction team
