Every year the Gallup organization asks Americans who they trust the most, measuring honesty and ethics. Nurses, physicians and pharmacists scored highest in honesty and ethics categories this year while members of Congress, used car salespersons, telemarketers and, yes, journalists scored lowest. Clergy persons gained some public support this year compared to previous years. There were wide differences in how Democrats and Republicans viewed the honesty of teachers, journalists and police.
For the last 19 years, IBM has been the No. 1 recipient of U.S. patents. But not last year. In 2022, the patent office granted Samsung more than 6,200 patents — 2,000 more than IBM. Inventors in California win patents way more often than those in other states and U.S. inventors land far more than innovators in other countries.
