Dear Friend,
New year, same fight.
We are just three weeks into the new year and we are reminded once again of the very real impact that climate change is having on people around the world. From the historic fires in Australia to the catastrophic flooding in Indonesia, it’s clear that the climate crisis is here.
Because you care deeply about our work, I wanted to give you an inside look into what we have planned for the coming year.
- Moving to 100% clean energy: All across the country we are fighting for an urgent transition to 100% clean energy — even in coal country. In West Virginia, Earthjustice is making sure customers don’t foot the bill for expensive, outdated, and inefficient coal plants, while advocating for a shift to clean energy.
- Fighting for zero emissions: We are working in cities around the country to power everything with clean energy — from our transportation to our buildings to the way we do business.
- Getting ahead of petrochemicals: The petrochemical boom is the next frontier of our climate fight and threatens to counteract the progress we’ve made. We don’t need more plastics, and we certainly don’t need more pollution. We are working alongside communities to stop dangerous petrochemical plants in their tracks.
- Protecting climate forests: The Tongass National Forest is a key weapon in fighting climate change. We have spent decades defending Alaska’s Tongass National Forest, and we are doubling down on those efforts in 2020. We are opposing a massive logging project in this vital wildlife habitat and carbon sink.
This next year and next decade are so incredibly consequential to our fight for justice for the planet and its people. You can make a gift today and play a critical role in helping us take on these battles.
I am so grateful to have you on our team.
Onward,
