It took Republicans 15 attempts to settle on a new House Speaker last week. This was historic in that no party has failed to elect a leader that many times in more than 100 years.

This is only the beginning of what we can expect from the new GOP House Majority: an embarrassing display of disarray and divisiveness.

The American people deserve better, plain and simple.

My resolve to fight for hardworking families, voting rights, reproductive freedom, and environmental protections is as strong as ever – but in the face of a far-right agenda, it won’t be easy.

That’s why even though the election is over, our work is just getting started.

Protecting our progress and making the systemic changes we want to see requires organizing year-round to defeat radical legislation and push Alabama forward.
