** Congress Updates the Electoral Count Act, but the Work of Strengthening Democracy Is Far From Over ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
On December 23, Congress passed the Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022 (ECRA) with strong bipartisan support. This historic step, which involved CLC working with our allies over the last two years to help Congress understand and advance the key updates in the law, will protect the will of voters in the next presidential election. CLC’s director of legislative strategy, Jo Deutsch, explained the four key updates shortly after the bill was passed.

The passage of the ECRA was not the only notable development last month – the bipartisan January 6th Committee released its long-awaited report on December 22.
The report concludes the committee's work, but the work of strengthening our democracy is far from over. States have already enacted and more are considering introducing laws that aim to intimidate voters and restrict access to the polls in future elections. The ongoing threat of election manipulation also poses a danger to our freedom as voters and the health of our democracy.

His campaign's filings raise numerous red flags and appear to have been intentionally designed to hamper voters’ right to know how his campaign raised and spent money. We filed our complaint with the Federal Election Commission and have sent it to the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.
