Last week, we watched what happens when extremist Republicans put themselves before the people. Halting the 118th Congress and leaving the American people without a working House of Representatives for days.
It took 13 rounds of voting, and nearly coming to blows, for the GOP to finally come to consensus on who should become the next Speaker of the House.
Now, we can FINALLY get to work.

Let me be clear, John, we are elected to work for you. Our focus should only be on introducing and passing policy which will help working people.
With the GOP's slim majority in the House and discord among their members, it’s clear to me that we are seeing years of increasing intolerance, bigotry, and fanaticism in their party finally come crashing down around the heads of Republican members.
Infighting and backstabbing is not new for the GOP, and now they’re allowing extremists on their side of the aisle to hold their party, and the country, hostage. Whether it was January 6, 2021 or last week’s disastrous start to the 118th Congress, it’s clear that we must fight back against this danger if we are going to protect our democracy.
