New Fact Sheet Estimating Each State’s Distribution of the FY 2023 CCDBG Appropriations Increase
Today, CLASP released its FY 2023 fact sheet estimating the distribution of federal discretionary Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) appropriation funding for all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. On December 29, 2022, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 resulting in $8 billion in total federal discretionary funding for CCDBG—a $1.9 billion or 30 percent increase in funding above the previous year. In addition to detailing the estimated FY 2023 state-by-state distribution of federal discretionary funding the fact sheet also includes the actual FY 2022 distribution and the total estimated increase in funding from FY 2022 to FY 2023.
The $1.9 billion increase in funding is the second largest increase in federal discretionary funding in the history of CCDBG—following the $2.4 billion increase in FY 2018. And this increase represents a step in the right direction toward significant, sustained increased investments that expand access beyond the 1 in 6 children [[link removed]] who currently have access to the program.
