John,
Throughout the lengthy, drawn out election for Speaker last week, the chaos conference failed to come to a consensus after more than 10 rounds of votes.
On what was supposed to be a positive, uplifting day last Tuesday, the American people had to witness the Republicans caucus attempt to begin to lead the House of Representatives in a disjointed spectacle to elect the next Speaker.
I’m proud to have remained united with every single one of my fellow Democrats in voting for House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, ready to get to work from day one — and demonstrate that true governing requires a mutual effort to lead our country forward.
Now that we’ve finally sworn in and convened the 118th Congress, there is no more time to waste. It’s time to get started on this year’s work addressing the issues most important to the American people.
Hearing from you helps keep my priorities centered around your primary concerns and ensures the needs of our district and communities across the country are addressed. John, will you take a moment to share your top priorities in our 2023 Issues Survey?
Unity among our Democratic caucus is just as crucial as the unity of this team as we work hand in hand for our families’ and nation’s future. Thank you for taking the time to share your input. I’m lucky to have you on this team.
It is a tremendous privilege to return for a third term to represent the people of Illinois’ 14th Congressional District and I look forward to continuing our journey for progress alongside you.
Lauren
