John: Last month, President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law – requiring all 50 states to recognize same-sex marriages issued in other states. But for every step that Democrats take forward, the right-wing radicals running things on the Supreme Court take two steps back.
In 2022, they destroyed abortion access across the nation, sabotaged efforts to protect our communities from gun violence, and seriously weakened the EPA's ability to fight climate change. And unfortunately, they're just getting started.
Now, the Supreme Court has heard arguments for a monumental case that ultraconservative justices could use to lay the groundwork to OVERTURN marriage equality. Just like Roe v. Wade and abortion rights, marriage equality is hugely popular with Americans across the political spectrum. But these radicals on the bench have proven time and time again that they don't care about American families. They just care about their hateful, extremist agenda.
In the months ahead, the Supreme Court will rule on so many other critical cases – including President Biden's student debt relief plan, election integrity, affirmative action, and more.
