Hey friend,

2022 represented the first year of Mayor Joe Hogsett’s three-year violence reduction plan, and we saw some meaningful progress in our anti-violence strategy.

Indianapolis saw a nearly 16% drop in deadly violence, three times the national average reduction, helping us reach the lowest level of deadly violence since 2019. This successful effort is thanks to the incredible collaboration between City agencies, law enforcement and grassroots organizations.

Mayor Joe Hogsett’s public safety strategy has resulted in:

📉 15.9% reduction in criminal homicides

📉 13.7% reduction in nonfatal shooting incidents

📈 Hiring of 50 Peacemakers for the Department of Public Health and Safety

📈 Deploying 6 new public safety cameras and 200 license plate readers

📈 Increasing pay for new and transferring officers to boost the IMPD

While this is good news, it is no celebration. Progress is being made, but we still aren’t where we need to be. We continue to grieve for the families and communities affected by senseless acts of violence. In their honor, we will work to build on our recent gains and work tirelessly to see even greater declines in 2023.

Mayor Joe Hogsett could use your support as we enter the second year of his three-year violence reduction plan. Help us keep up the progress today >>

Thank you,
