Hi John,

Have you seen the news? The government just announced a ban on some single-use plastics in England including cutlery, plates, and trays. [1]

This is a step forward in the fight against plastic pollution, and a victory for all of us who have been working together to protect our environment.

But it is nowhere near enough to stop the flow of plastic.

To do this we have to stop plastic at source and much more drastically reduce the amount being produced. Will you help me show we need more than these bitty little solutions? We need transformative action - demand a strong global plastics treaty now.

Plastic is a global problem that requires a global solution. Over the next two years, leaders from countries around the world are coming together to decide the first ever Global Plastics Treaty. A strong Treaty would give governments the power to hold polluters to account and would be a huge step towards a plastic free future.

It would set clear guidelines and standards for plastic production, ensuring that every country is doing its part to reduce plastic use - including the UK.

Imagine a world where every country is working together to reduce plastic pollution.

This is the kind of change that is needed to truly make a difference, and it is only possible if we all work together to demand an effective Global Plastics Treaty. Will you add your name?

If the UK is truly going to be a leader on plastic reduction, it must do more than just ban a few single-use items. The government needs to stop pandering to industry lobbyists and dumping our plastic waste on other countries. [2]

Sign the petition today to call for real action on plastic, and bring about a strong global treaty.

Together, we can continue to make a real impact in the fight against plastic pollution.

Thanks for all that you do,

Nina
