Dear Friend of MCV,

Are you excited by the possibility of putting more made-in-Maine renewable electricity like offshore wind on the electric grid instead of dirty fossil fuels?

MCV is part of the new Fix the Grid Campaign and we’re delighted to invite you to learn more and get involved! Fix the Grid is a collaborative effort of environmental groups, activists, and engaged citizens across New England that aims to accelerate a just transition to a democratic, transparent, and renewable electric grid.

Join MCV and our partners at the kick-off event on Wednesday, January 11 from 6:30-7:30 PM. You’ll get the chance to meet others involved in the effort and dig in on a state-specific plan with fellow advocates!

Grid policy is notorious for being some of the most wonky, confusing policy that exists. Long story short, New England’s grid is operated by a nonprofit, federally regulated entity called ISO (Independent System Operator) New England. ISO-NE historically has favored dirty fossil fuel-powered electricity like coal and natural gas, and the resulting carbon emissions have directly contributed to climate change and disproportionately harmed communities of color. The governance structure of ISO-NE doesn’t allow for much transparency and public participation in its decision-making process– and this is exactly what we are trying to change.

I hope to see you at our campaign launch to learn more about the campaign and how you can help fix the grid!
