John --

Our hearts are with the victims of the recent mass shootings, their families and friends, the communities in Gilroy and Brownsville and the family and friends of the 100 people killed every day by gun violence.  But our empathy is not enough.

We are 210 days into 2019 and there have already been 246 mass shootings. That’s more than one a day.  This past weekend, a rash of major shootings took lives and tore apart communities across the country. Between Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, seven mass shooting incidents were reported in California, New York, Illinois, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Kansas. In Chicago alone, 8 human beings were killed and 40 more were wounded by guns this past weekend.

The NCGV Action Fund works to hold our elected officials accountable for their positions on legislation that would put North Carolinians at greater risk of gun violence. For example, many elected officials in Raleigh continue to push legislation to arm educators and allow 18-year olds with no training and no background checks to be able to carry hidden loaded weapons in public.

But we can only do this work with your support. And the more support we have the more effectively we can do the work.  Can you chip in $25 or more <[link removed]> to help hold lawmakers accountable as we continue to fight for laws to reduce the terrible toll of gun violence?

Thank you!
