I had planned to send you an email last Tuesday – six whole days ago – that started with this:

“Today is the official first day of the 118th Congress. It is the honor of my lifetime to represent Pennsylvania’s 7th district and I am so excited to be back to continue fighting for the issues that matter most.”

But Republicans were too distracted by their own infighting to elect a Speaker of the House – and that meant the rest of us couldn’t conduct any official business. Their dysfunction was beyond frustrating to witness firsthand, and frankly, I’m concerned about what it means for the next two years of a Republican-majority Congress.

Now we are finally able to get to work. I am determined to continue advocating for the issues that matter most to families and workers in Pennsylvania and across the country – fighting inflation, lowering health care costs, creating more good-paying jobs, and more.
