From the moment I first launched my campaign for Congress in 2016, I have never wavered in my belief in our grassroots movement. And I know what else I believe in: outsized spending and dark money should not buy our elections.
I don’t believe that our politics and policies should be bought, so I won’t be either. I have never accepted a single cent from corporate PACs or dark money groups, and I never will. And I know that it only makes our movement stronger, because people power wins.
Just look at the incredible cohort of progressives I was proud to endorse this cycle — Greg Casar, Summer Lee, Delia Ramirez, and many more — who have joined me in the ranks of the Progressive Caucus as we fight every day on your behalf.
I say this because I want to remind you that what we do now matters. Our new session of Congress has officially begun — with Republican control of the House, but also with more progressives than ever before.
In this new year, my team is taking stock of our resources and setting our goals for the upcoming cycle as we plan for the road ahead. And unfortunately, though our work remains as urgent as ever, our fundraising has been steadily declining.
I’m writing to you now because I wanted to personally ask if you can make a donation to my campaign today and set us up for success no matter the challenges ahead.
I am not here to guilt trip you. There is no imaginary donor who will triple match your donation, and the sky is not falling. Just you and me, and my sincere hope that you will recognize the importance of this moment.
