Our Maryland has served as a digital communications hub for the progressive movement in Maryland since 2017. In that time, we’ve advocated for access to reproductive healthcare, paid sick leave, progressive tax reforms, a $15 minimum wage, transparency in government, and much more. Five years ago, Maryland’s political landscape looked much different than it does today. Now that we’re entering a new phase in Maryland politics with new leadership at all levels of state and local government, it’s time to meet the moment with a fresh approach to progressive advocacy.
We have hired two full-time staff members: Executive Director Alice Wilkerson and Digital Director Maya Holliday, both formerly of Strong Future Maryland. They bring a combined 20+ years of experience in policy and advocacy, and we’re so excited to be joining forces with them to build a stronger progressive movement in Maryland!
We’re hitting the ground running in preparation for the 2023 legislative session, which starts in just a few days on January 11th. We are excited for the year ahead, and ready to provide crucial digital and communications support to efforts to expand and ensure access to abortion care, protect the rights of trans Marylanders, continue to reform Maryland’s youth justice system, implement paid family leave, ensure Maryland is on track to meet its climate and energy goals, and much more.
Our mission of amplifying the voices, ideas, and messages of organizations and coalitions that are working for progress, opportunity, and equity in our state is at the center of everything we do. As we get started on our new journey as Advance Maryland, your support is more important than ever.
If you’re able, please consider contributing to our new Partner Support Fund, which helps us provide more strategic, digital, and communications support to our partner organizations during the legislative session.
