Friend,
A few days ago, longtime U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow announced that she will not be seeking re-election in 2024.
So today, I would like to take a moment to recognize her nearly 50 years of incredible public service, steadfast leadership, and all that she has accomplished for Michigan’s working families.
The truth is, no one has inspired or guided my political career more than Senator Stabenow.
She shattered the glass ceiling when she became the first woman from Michigan to serve in the U.S. Senate, and she made a path for a new generation of Democratic women to run for office and deliver for our great state.
From her work on the U.S. Auto Rescue that saved hundreds of thousands of jobs, to making sure that our food supply chains were strong through the COVID-19 pandemic, and her relentless advocacy for better substance abuse and mental health treatment—Senator Stabenow has put the people of Michigan first each step of the way.
We understand our work is far from over. And I look forward to working with Sen. Stabenow for the next two years to pass a farm bill that meets the needs of Michigan’s agricultural communities, ensure that hungry kids are fed, and to fight for our best-in-class manufacturers who keep America on wheels.
Debbie Stabenow has changed our state for the better, and her incredible contributions to our communities will be felt for decades to come.
So thank you, Senator Stabenow. We will forever be grateful for your historic leadership.
Sincerely,
Haley Stevens
