Trump flunky Kevin McCarthy is now Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

And “all” it took was:
McCarthy will gavel the 118th Congress into session today.

As with any new Congress, the first order of business is passing rules about how the House will operate for the next two years.

We know that some of the dangerous concessions McCarthy made to the MAGA gang are part of the proposed rules.

We also know that the proposed rules are loaded with other poison pills, including a measure that would neuter the Office of Congressional Ethics, which — conveniently enough, for many House Republicans — is the entity that would investigate members of Congress who took part in Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Already, some House Republicans are making noise about voting “no” on these rules.

And as we just saw with the Speaker debacle, if Democrats are united, it only takes a few Republicans (whatever their motives) to block some bad thing the rest of them are trying to ram through.

That’s why it is critical for every Democrat in the House of Representatives to oppose these rotten rules.

Tell every House Democrat: Vote “no” on the Republicans’ rotten rules package for the 118th Congress.
