We Need Your Help to Advocate for Legislation that will Protect our Environment.
VA Capitol, Anonymous
The Virginia General Assembly will convene on January 11, and a number of environmentally-related bills will be considered. For example, several bills that aim to control invasive plants will be introduced this session. Would you be interested in joining with members of ASNV’s Advocacy Committee to advocate for legislation that will help protect our environment?
Work might include writing a letter or email to your representative urging passage (or not) of a particular bill, or in some cases requesting a meeting with them. You would be working with more experienced advocates who could help instruct you, so lack of experience is not disqualifying.
If you are interested in helping, please send an email to Tom Blackburn, ASNV’s Advocacy Committee Chair, at [email protected]. Please include your name, physical address (so we can identify which legislators represent you), phone number, any particular area of interest (e.g., trees, invasive plants, wetlands, etc.) and the names of the delegate and senator representing you, if you know them.
