URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Biologists predict the spike in manatee deaths to continue
into 2023!
Following the worst year on record for manatees, 2022 was another tough year for
this beloved marine animal, with another 783 deaths -- well above the five-year average of 615. Experts are linking the devastating
decline in manatees to malnutrition and starvation due to the excessive loss of a critical food source: seagrass .
A big culprit to blame for the decimation of this vital marine plant is the
profit-driven cruise industry. Greedy corporations like Carnival Cruise use the
dirtiest fuel and dump their toxic waste into our oceans. These emissions add to
the massive pollution burden in sensitive manatee habitats. This dirty, toxic
wastewater contributes to algae bloom that becomes so thick it blocks sunlight, preventing seagrass growth.
These winter months are particularly difficult for manatees as these gentle
giants try to stay warm and locate scarce food -- and cruise ship pollution is
pushing them even closer to EXTINCTION and DESTROYING our oceans. TAKE ACTION NOW: Sign our petition to STOP Big Cruise from endangering water
quality and threatening helpless manatees who are clinging to survival >>

[[link removed]]Seagrass isn’t just essential for manatee survival, but it’s one of the many
critical marine resources that benefit our planet. The ocean provides at least HALF of ALL the Earth’s oxygen and plays a critical role in curbing climate change. Without a clean and
healthy ocean, our ecosystems will suffer catastrophic consequences.
But Big Cruise cares more about its bottom line than protecting our environment.
These greedy cruise corporations continue to recklessly ramp up the size and
traffic of the giant ships that churn up harmful contaminants throughout the ocean and release dangerous emissions into the air.
We MUST do more to protect our precious oceans -- and that starts with holding
the cruise ship industry accountable for their destructive corporate pollution.
